Gift Planning & Endowment

Gift Planning allows individuals to make a charitable gift of estate assets, which helps ensure the preservation of Ridgewood Ranch and its long-term future. With such gifts, donors can make a satisfying and, usually, substantial contribution while meeting their own personal and financial objectives.

Since 2004, the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit California corporation, has promoted the cultural legacy of Ridgewood Ranch in Willits, California, the home and final resting place of the legendary racehorse Seabiscuit through historic preservation, environmental conservation and public education. With a legacy gift from your estate, you make a promise to future generations that the Seabiscuit Heritage District will be preserved on the ranch. Your gift will live on, leaving a legacy that will enrich the lives of generations to come.

Stock Gift:

Please note: For electronic transfer of stock gifts to SHF an account number and Tax Identification number is required. For tax purposes a letter of transfer would also need to be prepared.

Memorials and Tributes

Gifts given to SHF "in memory of" or "in honor of" another individual. Contributions via credit card are accepted and an acknowledgement of the gift is sent to the donor along with an offer of an memorial plaque for gifts exceeding $5,000.

Volunteers

Docent Program The Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation offers seasonal ranch walking tours (June-September). Volunteers interested in leading tours, including tours sponsored by the Willits Chamber of Commerce, school groups and other organizations are encouraged to contact the SHF. All docents are trained and are notified well in advance of upcoming tours.

Special Events SHF events include monthly ranch tours, film screenings, nature walks, and special member events. Duties usually include serving refreshments, greeting and seating guests, marketing merchandise, clean up, etc.
